Presentation Skills Development
Course objective:
The course covers the key issues and best practices for learners who deal with preparing and staging speeches and presentations.
Learners explore the skill sets they already own and also areas where they can or need to develop their presentation and public speaking skills.
The course offers an assortment of exercises (both in class and as home tasks), videos, selected readings and discussions highlighting key issues that engage students and provide opportunities to practice preparing and staging engaging speeches and presentations.

1. Introduction. The difference between speeches and presentations
2. Nonverbal communication and body language
3. Stage fright, performance anxiety (how to deal with it)
4. The secret key ingredient: storytelling
5. Structure: the most effective ways to start and end the speech
6. The best practices to engage the audience
7. Evaluating speeches and presentations, giving valuable feedback
8. Presentations planning: structure and design
9. Preparation before a speech on-site (warming up the body and voice, breathing)
10. End-semester presentations, test paper and closing of semester: discussion on
the individual goals and the achievements.
Conditions for issuing the micro-certificate upon completion of the course:
The grade is based on the following:
• Attendance/Active Class Performance (45%)
• Home tasks (30%)
• Final test paper and end-semester presentation (25%)
Grading: 0-60% – Fail (1), 61-69% – Sufficient (2), 70-79% – Average (3),
80-89% – Good (4), 90%-100% Excellent (5)
