Edutus University Becomes a Key Strategic Partnerof the European EdTech Alliance

Edutus University has joined the European EdTech Alliance as a key strategic partner, connecting directly with a European network representing more than 2,600 EdTech organisations across nearly 30 countries. The new strategic partnership creates a direct link between the University and the European EdTech ecosystem, opening up new opportunities for international knowledge exchange, education, research and innovation.

Budapest, September 2026 – Edutus University and the European EdTech Alliance (EEA) have entered into a strategic partnership. As a Key Strategic Partnerof the EEA, Edutus University will gain direct access to the European EdTech ecosystem and its international knowledge and professional network, while contributing a higher education and academic perspective to the Alliance’s work.

The partnership was established through the international networking and facilitating role of the Hungarian EdTech Coalition and marks a new stage in Edutus University’s engagement with the European education technology ecosystem.

Direct Access to Europe’s EdTech Ecosystem

Since 2019, the European EdTech Alliance has been connecting national EdTech communities across Europe. Its members represent more than 2,600 EdTech organisations in nearly 30 countries. The Alliance brings together national EdTech organisations, innovation clusters and professional stakeholders and actively contributes to European dialogue on education technology, both at professional and policy levels.

Beyond its European activities, the EEA is also active globally. It is a founding member of the Global EdTech Alliance of Alliances, incubated within UNESCO’s Global Education Coalition, which connects more than 50 countries.

As a key strategic partner, Edutus University will be directly connected to this international knowledge base and professional network. The partnership creates opportunities for joint professional, educational and research initiatives, international knowledge exchange, expert programmes and the development of further higher education collaborations.

Responsible Use of Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Education

One of the central aims of the strategic partnership is to support the responsible, ethical and sustainable scaling of EdTech across Europe.

The collaboration is not simply focused on expanding the use of new technologies. A key question is how digital tools and artificial intelligence can be integrated into education in ways that genuinely support learning, the work of educators and student wellbeing.

Key areas of joint professional work include digital wellbeing and children’s digital wellbeing; the responsible and pedagogically justified use of technology and artificial intelligence; EdTech innovation and evidence-based educational practice; and the quality assurance and validation of EdTech solutions.

Bringing European Knowledge to Edutus – and Edutus Expertise to Europe

The partnership creates a two-way relationship. Edutus University will gain more direct access to the knowledge, best practices, innovation experience and professional connections accumulated within the European EdTech ecosystem. At the same time, the University will be able to bring its own educational, research and innovation experience and initiatives more prominently into the European professional dialogue.

“As a Key Strategic Partnerof the EEA, we gain access to European knowledge, professional connections and experience that we aim to integrate into our own educational, research and innovation activities. Through this partnership, we want Edutus University’s experience and initiatives to become more visible in the European professional dialogue, while also using the knowledge we gain for the benefit of the wider Hungarian higher education community.”

Némethné Dr. Gál Andrea, Rector of Edutus University

“In the next era of education technology, the question is no longer how quickly new technologies emerge, but whether we are able to use them in ways that create genuine value in education. The strategic partnership with Edutus University is an important step towards connecting the Hungarian higher education and academic perspective even more directly with the European EdTech ecosystem.”

Jannie Jeppensen, President of the European EdTech Alliance

Facilitated by the Hungarian EdTech Coalition

The strategic partnership was preceded by the deepening cooperation between the Hungarian EdTech Coalition and the EEA. Dr Flóra Rétfalvi, Vice President for International Relations of the Coalition, serves as Second Chair on the EEA’s leadership team and actively works to strengthen the links between Hungary’s education and innovation ecosystem and European professional networks.

As a founding member of the Hungarian EdTech Coalition, Edutus University has been an active participant in the Hungarian and international EdTech ecosystem for several years. The strategic partnership with the EEA complements this work by establishing a direct institutional connection at European level.
